Freebies in my mail!

18 Aug

One of my favorite part about signing up for freebies and free samples is checking the mail. Some weeks, only one or two items come, but occasionally a day like today rolls around where my mailbox looks like this:

Not a single bill either! What a great mail day. Now not everything in that picture was free, the largest white box on the top left and the brown box next to it were purchases. They were however amazingly low priced purchases. 🙂

The brown box was a portion of the textbooks ordered for my husband. (These aren’t showed in the second picture. He goes back to college starting Monday! We’re so excited.) The strappy white sandals on the left I ordered from Piperlime.com. These shoes were a great deal! Piperlime offers free shipping on all shoe purchases, and I used Ebates to earn cash back on my purchase. Top that off with the fact that the shoes were on clearance, and I ended up only paying about $16 for the shoes.

The pink and orange tennis shoes were a wonderful gift from my closest girl friend. Her brother-in-law works for a big brand name shoe company and gets quite a few free pairs every year. He invites my girl friend and her husband to pick out several pairs for themselves each year, and this year she picked one out for me! (She also snuck some of my favorite candy in the box. So sweet of her.) I can’t wait to try these out at the gym this week. While this isn’t a freebie I can share with you specifically (via link or form), I can share this: Take advantage of your resources! Do you have friends or family who work in retail? Many times they can extend a discount (sometimes even their employee discount) to you during special company events. Combine this with savvy sale shopping and couponing and you can be getting some great deals on merchandise. Whether it’s something you’ve always wanted (like new running shoes) and couldn’t justify paying for, or just saving extra money on a purchase, you never know how being friends with an employee can benefit you. Don’t be afraid to ask!

I also received my free 8×10 photo collage from Snapfish (this deal has now expired but you can still read about it here), a free sample of Good Nites Underpants and this month’s issue of Wine Spectator, which I have been recieving free for almost a year now.

It’s been a great mail day! What did you get in your mailbox? Share in the comments!

Walgreens 8×10 photo collages or enlargements *8/18 and in-store only*

17 Aug

Tomorrow Walgreens is offering 8×10 Collage Print or Enlargements, from any digital media, negative or print. You will need the coupon, but it can be found inside any Walgreens store ad. The coupon does say you must submit it with your order but there is no limit listed. Walgreen coupon policy varies widely state to state and even store to store, so be prepared for the possibility that you may only get one 8×10 photo at this price.

While I’m at Walgreens tomorrow, I’m also going to be taking advantage of this great deal!

Purex 3 in 1 Laundry Sheets, $0.99
$1/1 Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets printable
FREE after coupon!

Be sure to look for the $0.99 priced packages, as the full-size ones won’t end up free after the coupon.

Just click the link for the printable coupon. You will have to register with Purex, and the coupon prints through Coupon Printer. For those of you who have never used Coupon Printer, it is software you have to install on your computer. It takes just 1-2 minutes to download and install, is completely safe for your computer and is invaluable for online coupon printing. About 80% of all sites that offer online coupons, use this software. (With the Coupon Printer, you can hit the back button once after the coupon prints and print it again. It will lock you out after printing 2 coupons).

Walgreens! 8/15 – 8/21

16 Aug

Shopping at Walgreens can bring in HUGE savings for you and your family. For those of you not familiar with saving at Walgreens, the wonderful thing is that their weekly ad almost always has store coupons, meaning you can combine (also known as “stack”) them with your manufacturer’s coupons for even bigger savings! Check out this article for more on stacking. There are some great blogs out there that also offer Couponing 101 tips for beginners. I suggest reading a few of these to educate yourself on the ins and outs of couponing. Couponing 101 from Clever Couponing & Walgreens 101 from “Cents”able Momma.

Couponing to Disney also has a great break down of this week’s deals listed on her site. I *highly* recommend heading to her site to see this week’s deals because you can click the box next to each deal you are interested in and then print a list of everything you’ll need to bring in order to walk away with items for super cheap or even free!

So! Here are the deals I got at Walgreens this week and how I got them.

From the top of the picture working down

4 Corner Office legal pads:
Original price, $1.19 ea.
– Marked down to $0.79
– In ad coupon = $0.29 ea.
Total price for 4: $1.16 (That’s less than the original price of one!)

Multipurpose printer paper:
Org. $3.79
– In ad coupon
= $2.99

Big envelope that says “Poster Size”:
This is my free 8×10 photo from the online 8/15 only deal! ($2.99 value for $0.00)

Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara:
Org. $7.79
P&G 8/15 $1.00
= $6.79
(I learned a lesson here, when Walgreens offers an instant coupon and you try and use a manufacturer’s coupon, the smaller discount wins. :/ Oh well.)

Right Guard Deodorant:
Org. $4.49 ea.
-B1G1 Walgreens Sale
-$3/2 printable coupon
= $1.49 for 2 (or roughly $0.75 ea)

Colgate toothpaste:
Org. $3.99
-Marked down to $1.99
-$1/1 from 8/8 SS
= $0.99

Purina 6oz cat food:
Org. $1.99
-$1/1 from 8/15
= $0.99

Toy cars YMMV (2 are pictured, but I purchased 3. As you can see my son is snagging them off the table as I took the photo.)
Org. $3.79
– Clearance priced!
=$0.82 ea or $2.46 for all 3
This was a fun find! I just happened to see these cars across from the pet food aisle. Not sure if any other Walgreens have these or not. I managed to distract my son with one, and then hid the other two. I’ll be saving these for his birthday, coming up in October.

Overall, I spent $16.87! However I walked out with over $45 in merchandise! Definitely a successful trip to Walgreens.
