While there were only two things in my mailbox worth mentioning, one of them lead to some awesome deals!
I got my 25 Free magnets from Vista Print (only paid shipping – $4.70). I had these printed up with Free & Easy Living information to hand out for more exposure. Vista Print always has freebies. They periodically change what is free, but there are always free items! All you have to do is pay shipping. I always select the 21 day shipping option because it’s the cheapest and my items usually arrive much faster, about 1-2 weeks.
I also got my $10 Barnes and Noble gift card I earned through MyPoints. What’s MyPoints? It’s a great service that rewards you with points for reading emails, searching the web, playing online games, shopping, surveys and more! You can then redeem your points for real gift cards! I usually just read the emails and occasionally participate in the other point earning activities. MyPoints also include a 25% off coupon in my envelope for FTD! I’ll be hanging on to that one.
My husband and I were so excited to get our $10 Barnes and Noble gift card today. We recently signed up to be Barnes and Noble members. We debated whether or not it was wise to spend $25 to get a 10% member discount for a year, but after learning you get free 3-5 day shipping with no minimum purchase required we jumped on this deal. The money we saved with our discount and free shipping when ordering my husband’s textbooks has already half paid for the card. I’m confident we’ll be able to make this membership card save us enough money in the next 12 months to more than pay for it’s self.
So we took our free $10 gift card to Barnes and Noble today. As new members we received some great coupons via email, one of which was a Buy 1 Tall Latte, Get 1 Free. We ordered two tall iced lattes, used our 10% member discount and paid the balance with our gift card. That meant 2 coffees for under $2.50! (Well actually FREE with the gift card, but only $2.47 was taken off the balance!)
We took our coffees to the children’s section and let our son play with the Thomas the Train table. I love that Barnes and Noble offers this because he loves playing with the trains and books and it makes for a free (or if I splurge on a coffee or magazine, cheap) outing.
Then I found this great deal in the bargain section!

Between the bargain price, the member discount and the gift card from MyPoints, I walked out with this book and an extra $0.99 in my pocket. (That was the gift card balance. The cashier paid to me in cash, versus keeping it on the card.) I’m really excited about this because my freebie purchased a recipe book that is going to continue to save my family money. Now THAT’S making your money work for you.
